Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub

There are so many wonderful things about this time of year, one of them is the cold weather. While some of you might not enjoy it quite as much, for me it just makes everything feel that little bit more festive. Wrapping up in coats and scarf's and sipping hot coffee from take-away cups to stay warm is something I look forward to. As much as I love it, It can cause skin issues! One thing that can be a problem more so in Winter than any other time is chapped lips. They can sometimes be quite sore and if nothing else they make lipstick look a little rubbish, especially the darker colours.

Just over a week ago I picked up this little pot in Lush! I hadn't seen it before and after smelling it and speaking to the lovely woman helping me I decided to give it ago. It is the first lip scrub I have ever tried and I can say I love it! I use it at night before bed after cleansing and moisturising or in the morning just before I apply my make up. When ever I choose to use it I always immediately follow it with lip balm for two reasons. 1- because I feel that after you have taken the dry dead skin from your lips it is the time you will get the biggest benefit from your lip balm and 2- after scrubbing your lips they deserve a treat :)

The abrasive ingredients used in this scrub are : Caster Sugar, Sea Salt, Polenta and Popping Candy. All of these things make for a yummy scrub which I will admit I really enjoy licking off. (I may have even dipped my finger in just to eat a little)

I was a little confused by the name of this product at first. I thought it was going to smell and taste like "popcorn" that typical cinema popcorn smell but it doesn't, it is quite sweet. It has a lovely salted caramel flavour that I am a little obsessed with in more than just the scrub. I would guess that the name possibly comes from a caramel popcorn taste and the popping candy used in the scrub. That is just my guess so if anyone has a different idea or knows why it is called Popcorn I would love to know.

I am really happy with this purchase and can see myself using it for a while. The pot does say limited edition however so sadly I'm unsure of how long this will be around. I find the overall smooth lip effect lasts about a day which may not sound like a long time but I use very little so it should last me through Winter. The pots cost £5.25 and are 25g and come in four flavours or scents that are- Popcorn, Bubblegum, Mint Julips and Sweet Lips. They are really nice to use and I feel they do my lips some good. They would also make really lovely little Christmas gifts.

  1. Ooh I'm a huge fan of their lip scrubs! I have the Bubblegum one right now and I totally agree, they smell so yummy that sometimes I just want to eat it! (even though I know that probably wouldn't end well). I definitely want to keep my eye out for this one, too bad it's limited edition:(

  2. Coincidentally I just picked up the "Sweet Lips" lip scrub! I've used the "Mint Juleps" one before and I loved it... I agree with you, lip scrubs are so perfect for this time of year when chapped lips can get annoying! It's very tempting to eat a little too :)

    1. It is very tempting, not sure how good of an idea it is though. I will have to look out for the Mint one, I didn't see it when I was in.
