Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray

Hair products claiming to give you volume have never been something I have looked for, I have quite a full head of hair and can achieve a decent amount of volume from blow drying. However...over the past two weeks I have been trying out the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray. This isn't something I would have given a second thought to before, but you were getting a 50ml sample with the September issue of Elle magazine and seeing as I was buying it anyway I thought I might as well give it a go. To be totally honest I wasn't expecting very much to happen, nothing against the brand as this is the first Bumble and Bumble product I have tried, I just think sometimes the claims made on these types of products are well...not exactly true.

First of all the smell of this product is strong, I mean really strong! The best way I can describe it is kind of like alcohol or cleaning products, it is so strong in fact I almost didn't use it. Luckily though the smell doesn't seem to last long once in your hair.

My favourite way to use it is to spray it in my hair while it's still damp, I have tried a few other ways but the results weren't quite as good. At first I was very unsure of it, it felt sticky and made my hair feel as if it needed washed again, but as you continue to dry your hair that feeling goes and your hair goes back to feeling as it should. After blow-drying I have to say I have notice a huge difference in the amount of volume my hair has, especially at the roots and this volume lasts all day. This spray is also a multi-use product. It gives protection when heat styling -I didn't know this before so was using it with my TREsemme heat spray, and it acts as setting spray so helps keep your hair in shape a little longer. I have read that it claims to keep the hold and shape all day but I don't agree with that. I do notice a difference in how long my curls last when using this product, it is much later into the day but they do eventually fall out.

I really have been converted to this product, even one or two days after styling a little extra volume still remains there and I now miss that when I don't use this. The only downside is the cost, it is a little pricey at £20.50 and with my hair being so long I think I would go through it fairly quickly so I am undecided if I will purchase a big bottle when my sample runs out. Maybe its a good thing Christmas is coming...??

I also had to share these, someone really wanted to be in the pictures...

Have you tried any other thickening hair products? Or anything else from Bumble and Bumble?

  2. hehe love the pics! I'm glad this worked out for you! I've only tried B&B's "surf spray" and "does it all" spray. I think I would have liked to get a small bottle like yours to try out for them. I like them both, but the "does it all" spray's scent is a bit strong and stuffy for me lol

    1. Thank you. Yeh it's a little off putting when the smell of a product is really strong, even more so if the smell sticks around. I have heard so many good things about the Surf Spray, I think after loving this I would like to try that, might try and find a smaller size first lol

  4. Thanks so much for your comment on my blog! For Thailand, I would recommend moving around and staying near a popular beach such as Patong Beach which is the real Thailand experience and is a lot of fun; then spending a little while in somewhere quieter such as Chang Mai! I think all up 2 weeks is a great time to spend there!

  5. It's a shame it smells so strong, but I've heard great things about this product! Your dog is so cute in those pictures! :)

  6. Oh that is so sad that it smells bad, products are meant to smell lovely even if they don't actually do anything. I love that your puppy is being such a pretty poser. My cat does that too, always sitting in anything I am doing. Because he can!
