Samples

I love samples! It's always nice to get something for free...even if its only a little thing. They are also great to have on hand if you are travelling or suddenly find your self having to stay over somewhere, so much easier to carry around with you than huge pots of product!

I has gathered quite the collection over the past few months and while I love getting them, I seem to always forget they are there. They have all ended up in an old biscuit tin we got for Christmas a couple of years ago. The tin is getting quite full now so I decided to take some out and give them a try.

WEI White Lotus Hydrating Face Treatment Pad. This mask is for all skin types and is for use once a week or whenever needed. It claims to "instantly hydrate and revitalize lifeless skin, leaving you looking dewy and fresh". I have had this for quite some time now and I am a little annoyed it has taken me this long to get around to trying it. I had never heard of the brand before getting this sample and after a little googling I found them online, and also found out that they are quite expensive for face masks! £55 for 6 masks! I have never used a sheet mask so lets hope this one is worth the money.

Oribe Signature Shampoo and Conditioner. First of all, if I had never been given a sample of these products I would probably never have bought them to try, purely because of price. You can get a 200ml bottle of each for £33 or if you are in a spending mood, 1000ml for £93...what?! I'm sorry but that is crazy to me! Anyway, I look forward to giving the samples a try, for that price I am expecting amazing results.

MONU Micro Exfoliant & Hydrating Moisturiser SPF 15. These little bottles have some pretty big claims, one being that the moisturiser will blur imperfection and corrects skin tone...sounds good to me! I am looking forward to seeing if they can live up to expectations, and finding out some more on the brand. The price for he full size moisturiser is £29.95 and the exfoliant is £15.95.

I haven't tried out any of these products yet so I am excited to see how I get on with them -especially the mask! Have you used any of these before??

Dreaming of Far Away Places...

I have to say...I am not the biggest fan of January! It's so far away from anything really exciting and the whole month just feels so long and well,  a little dull. This is always made worse when you are trying to not spend too much having gone overboard at Christmas time.

This has left me constantly day dreaming of somewhere far away, somewhere to escape to or just relax. We haven't been on holiday in a very long time, the way life has been for the past few years has just meant that it hasn't been possible but I think getting away would do us some good.

The problem now is that the world is such a huge place...where do you start??

I have developed somewhat of an obsession with America, I feel if I don't get to go soon that I will explode, sounds extreme but I so badly want to visit. There are so many parts of the country I want to see but I think the place to start would have to be New York, if I had to pick just one that would be it.

For somewhere to relax in the sun I have been thinking about Dubai, I'm not sure why I have been focusing more on there than anywhere else recently but I have. It was never somewhere I thought about before, but because I have been googling pictures over the past two weeks I can just imagine myself on the beach or cooling off in the water.

For a short city break I would love to see Paris, it has always looked so beautiful to me. However...everyone I have mentioned this to recently, ones who have actually been, have told me that I wouldn't like it! They have told me the people can be rude if you are a tourist and that it is no where near as beautiful as I imagine it to be. I simply cannot believe it, it looks such an amazing place to be! Have you been, do you live there? Please tell me they are wrong, not that anything they have said to me would stop me going.

There are so many other places, far too many to mention them all. Some that spring to mind are Japan, Thailand, Barcelona, Lapland (where Santa lives), Italy and so many more that I would be here all day writing them out.

Do you have any suggestions for other amazing places, where do you love to go when you go on holiday? Or more specific locations instead of just countries?

Hopefully we do get to go away some time in the not too distant future...that would be lovely!

MAC Extreme Dimension Lash Mascara

Since discovering my all time favourite mascara Maybelline's The Falsies I can rarely be persuaded to part with money to try out a new one.

At Christmas Paul's lovely parents gifted me one of the MAC Christmas collections (lucky girl), I can't remember the exact name of the set but it included a paint pot, a gel liner, a mascara, a make-up bag and a double ended brush. They are all gorgeous products and dare I say it...I think I could love this mascara just as much as my amazing Falsies! That is a bold statement let me tell you!

It is the MAC Extreme Dimension Lash and I have been using it for just over a week now, I normally don't like a mascara for the first day or two, I think they are a little too watery when first opened but I didn't have that problem with this one. MAC claims on their website that this mascara will add volume, extend length and create curl...I agree with two out of three of these. It definitely gives you length, I find two coats looks better than one. It also gives you lots of volume, again I prefer two coats, this gives you very full thick black lashes and because it doesn't clump they are beautiful and defined. I don't however agree with the curl claim, I don't ever curl my eyelashes -I just never remember too, and I can't see any difference between the curl this gives and the curl I get from and other mascaras.

Two things I adore about this mascara are first, that it isn't a fibre mascara. While these can be great for building length and adding volume they can end up looking really messy if you don't take care when applying. I love that I can get just as much length with this one but my lashes stay neat and defined. Secondly I can wear this on my bottom lashes all day and it doesn't flake or rub off under my eyes. This is a huge plus for me as I really don't want to have to mess about with two separate mascaras when I am in a hurry.

So I may have been swayed by this lovely product -thank you Paul's Mum and Dad!

I am still fairly new too MAC, I haven't tried very many products from the brand but I am definitely becoming a huge fan! Have you tried this mascara? Or another from MAC that you love?

Lusting After: Chanel Boy

Right now I am sitting with the laptop, doing some internet window shopping and sneaking spoons of Nutella (see Instagram for evidence).

I have never owned a designer handbag, its not that I have never wanted one, just that I always found a better (more sensible) use for the money. One of my favourites comes from Chanel. When ever I see or hear people talk about their Chanel bags it is more often than not the same one, the Classic Quilted Flap Bag. While this bag is lovely, and rediculously overpriced in my opinion, it is not my weakness. My obsession is the Chanel Boy Bag, in the beautiful nude colour and its gorgeous velvet material. I am in love with every detail of this bag and if I could bring myself to hand over the huge amount of money for it  -£1985!, I would.

Sadly, I don't think that will be happening any time soon, but how beautiful is it! I can see it with so many outfits, even though I'm sure if I had one, it would stay wrapped up in it's box so it would never be marked or damaged in anyway!

What do you think, are you a fan of Chanel?

My First Ever Converse!

As you can probably guess from the title of this post I recently got my first pair of Converse and I am super excited about it!

Converse shoes are one of those things that everyone seems to have, or at least it looks that way when you don't have a pair. For as long as I have known Paul these have been his go-to shoes and I have always loved them but never took the plunge into buying them. This is because I have never been a trainer/sneaker wearing kind of girl. I have always worn flats, in all different styles and colours, and being honest from day-to-day I don't really stray from them, except of course in wet or Wintery weather when boots like Uggs or wellies are needed. Because of this I have always felt that I look a little odd in trainers.

But my want for a pair of these shoes took over in December, mainly because I had a few different outfits on that I felt could be greatly improved by the addition of a pair of Converse. We hit the sales on Boxing Day to get me a pair, when we started looking I just had the standard black or white in mind, but then I found them...and as soon as I found out they had my size they were mine! And they were £39 down from £60...bargain! The shoes have a leopard print design but the fabric is a metallic greyish purple so the print is a little more subtle than the usual brown. The Converse logo is black leather which I think goes so well with this design. They fit true to size and are one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I think it may have started an obsession!

So glad I finally own a pair! Are you a Converse fan?

Big Volume Hair

I have quite a full head of hair, there is a lot of it, made evident by the amount I seem to leave around the house and in the shower. But I wouldn't say it has super amounts of volume especially at the roots, I think if you have hair on the heavier side (like me) it can be hard to keep it volumised at the roots...well, I have found the answer to that problem!

I have used Batiste dry shampoo for a while now, it is the best I have tried but I had never noticed the XXL one before. With the normal dry shampoo being a great product I had high hopes for this. After straightening my hair I lifted small sections on the top of my head and sprayed a little on the roots, rubbing it with my fingers after each time. Unlike the normal dry shampoo you can definitely feel this in your hair, it isn't wet, sticky or greasy, you can just feel the product. If you can get passed the texture, it really does what it says on the tin! I was actually surprised by how much volume you can get with this product, it really does make a huge difference to your hair and, has the added advantage of making your hair look cleaner if it's one of those I-don't-want-to-wash-it days.

The same day I found the XXL spray, I found what is quite possibly a life changing product! Ok...maybe not, but it is pretty amazing. If I have styled my hair I like to set it with hair spray, most people do, but the smell isn't great...worse if you get it in your mouth. Fudge have done something wonderful about that and released a hairspray that smells like raspberry and vanilla. As soon as I spotted this product I grabbed it and tried it out as soon as I got it home, it really does smell lovely, so much better than normal hairspray. I don't normally go for super strong hold product as I think they can sometimes make your hair look a little stiff, this leaves your hair still feeling soft and looking natural. Also as it says, helps keep frizz away. The smells stay around for a short while but not that long, if I had one complaint that would be it...it would be lovely if you kept the scent in your hair for a whole day.

These two products make a great double act for big volume hair, they are easy to use, and do exactly what you need. I have already been back to buy more for when I run out.

7 Sins of Beauty - Tag Post

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a nice weekend? I was tagged by the lovely Traci from Drinkcitra to do the 7 Sins of Beauty tag so here we go.

Rules
1. Link of the person who tagged you.
2. Answer the questions on Greed, Wrath, Gluttony, Sloth, Pride, Lust and Envy.
3. Tag as many people as you wish and be sure to let them know.
4. Let the person who tagged you know by linking your post in their comments.

Greed - What is your most expensive beauty item? I think the most expensive beauty item I own is the NARS "God Created the Woman Palette".

Wrath - Which item do you have a love/hate relationship with? Liquid eye liner!!! I honestly think that stuff waits until you are in a hurry to decide that is the day its going to be awkward. But on the days it is your friend...it looks great!

Gluttony - What brand makes up most of your collection? I think that is Rimmel. I have quite a few products from the brand, they are definitely my favourite from the highstreet/drugstore.

Sloth - Which product do you neglect the most due to laziness? I think on days when I feel lazy with my make-up I just ignore my eye shadow. I would rather just focus on my skin and put on some mascara.

Pride - Which product gives you the most confidence? Definitely mascara, specifically Maybelline The Falsies. If I leave the house with only one item of make-up on it will be that, I feel that for me it gives the biggest change and makes me look more put together.

Lust - Which item is at the top of your beauty wish list? Something I have been looking at for a while now are the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders. I can't decide if they are worth the hype if they will be a huge waste of money?

Envy - Which make-up product/look is great on others but not yourself? Really dark lips look awful on me, I think its because I am quite pale so they can sometimes be too harsh and wash me out. I will keep looking though until I find a shade that I can work with.

I tag...
Rachel from Blush and Brunch
Lyndsay from Fizzy Peaches
Carrie from Carrie Brighton
Stevie from Stevie Hearts Makeup

And of course anyone else who would like to do it :)

Happy 2014!

Hello everyone, I  hope you all had a wonderful new year...what did you do to celebrate? We had a very quiet but enjoyable night, Paul, myself and a friend of ours spent the night watching films and enjoying a naughty takeaway. I always find it odd at New Year and sometimes a little anticlimactic, as if something is supposed to happen when the clock hits 12. In actual fact it is just the very next day. But, it is the New Year with lots to look forward to. Do you already have any plans?

I decided not to put up a December favourites because I really didn't have anything new to talk about, it was a busy month and I just stuck to my safe go-to products while there was a lot of running around to do. My most favourite things from the whole four weeks was Christmas Day!

So Happy New Year to you all! I hope 2014 brings you lots of happy times and many wonderful memories.

I would also like to thank you all for sticking with me through some hard times I had this year when I wasn't around very much. It really means a lot to me and hopefully this year will bring some changes here too. Lots of love. xxx
