A Little Catch Up

{Gold Tone Jewellery - Primark}
{White and Blue Plimsolls - Primark}

Things around here have slowed down a lot lately, so much so that they have kind of stopped altogether. It's been one of those times when life take over and you end up taking an unexpected break, even if you really don't want to. It can sometimes feel a little worrying coming back after not being online for a while but there's such a wonderful community in the blogging world that you always feel welcome - it's one of the things I love most about it.

Over the past two weeks I've had a to-do list longer than my arm and along with that and some major DIY getting done at home, making birthday cakes for best friends and trying to find time to still catch up with people its been a busy time! Also this week I achieved a personal goal that's left me feeling so SO happy in myself! It's something that was so huge and so honestly terrifying to me that I never thought I could do it so finally managing to get over my anxiety and push through is a huge deal. I'm not going to get in to it too much at the moment, as I will speak more about it here soon.

While I've been away I did manage to have a whole catch up day of shopping and coffee with my best friend and her baby girl. We always have the best days out and this day was no different, we also picked up some really great bits and the coat I've been trying to find now for quite a while (links for items shown where available). I also gave in and finally bought one of the fluffy pom-poms that you can attach to your bag or anywhere else you choose. I've wanted one for a while, convinced myself it was a waste of money but while in the shopping mindset it happened...and I love my little pom-pom -or as my mum and I have taken to calling it "the little tribble" (old old Star Trek reference).

I'm hoping things will now start to get back to normal and blogging can continue as it did before, and with this Sunday looking to be quite a relaxed and peaceful day I'm planning to spend it reading blogs I've missed and sipping tea :)

Made Me Happy This Week

I'm considering moving these posts to a Friday, what do you think? I started them on a Sunday because I can sometimes find Sundays a bit "blah", and it was a way to cheer them up for myself. But since then and after doing them for a while I wonder if Friday would suit them better? I'm not quite sure yet but will of course keep you posted. We've done quite a bit of gardening this week, Paul much more than me because, well...I'm scared of the spiders! But I have been helping and thing are starting to look pretty good and the sense of achievement from doing it our self is kind of nice too. With the weather also being so warm we have had so many butterflies, bees and ladybugs in the garden -I managed to snap a picture of the first two I found. Ladybugs always remind me of a Christmas when I was around 3 or 4 years old, my mum gave me a tube of ladybug shaped chocolate. I couldn't say ladybug so would call them  "aidybugs" which made everyone laugh (I've seen the video too many times), whenever I see one now it's always the first thing I think of.

1. My mum has discovered Skype!! Does anyone else find it really quite funny when their parents discover these things! She was so pleased with her self when the call connected and she could see us, she laughed for most of the call. I expect these will be a daily occurrence from now on.

2. Pineapple! We got a couple at the beginning of the week and I've been eating them since. My favourite way is to griddle them until they're a little charred and eat them hot. If I had Nutella they would have also been dipped into a little of that hehe.

3. My new Dermalogica primer has been doing great things for me this week. To be honest my skin hasn't been all that red this week, but the few times it has this green toned primer has been cancelling it out so much so that I could get away with that alone -no make up needed. I'm sure it will be in a post soon.

4. Driving around on sunny evenings with Paul (I don't drive), listening to the radio and feel so very summery. It never fails to put a smile on my face.

5. Our pound coin jar is very nearly full, I've been so tempted to break it open to see how much is inside but I'm determined to wait until not one more coin can fit inside.

6. We picked up a packet of Milky Ways on Friday, I haven't had one in such a long time, and I may have had a couple (four) since getting them.

7. I discovered cloudy lemonade this week and I think it's going to be my drink this Summer, with lots of ice of course :)

Spring Summer Whites

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

I am one of those people that if I even dare to wear white, all the stains of the world will seek me out, I will nearly always manage to spill, drop, sit in, or bump into something. You would think I'm a messy person but I'm really not...it's the white I tell you, it's like some kind of magnet. It's always been a Spring Summer trend I love but because of the issues that come with it it's never been one I've fully embraced, stopping at a white t-shirt most of the time. This summer I'd like to get into whites a little more and be more adventurous than I have been in the past, and seeing as my wardrobe is seriously lacking in white I'm looking to pick up some new items. These are some of my favourite bits I found while spending far too long online window shopping, I love the white blazer, I could see that being worn so many different ways. And while the fringe backpack may not be practical it does combine two of my favourite things -suede and fringing! What do you think of the white trend?

Made Me Happy This Week

{Edinburgh looking beautiful}

This weekend was a great end to this week, our best friends bought us tickets to a show. It was a completely last minute thing, they had been to see it on Thursday night and thought it was so funny they got us tickets for the Saturday show, and I'm so glad they did. Those spontaneous days out are always the best, no planning, just seeing where the days goes. I have to also mention the weather this past week, its been so warm that I have left the house a few time in jeans and t-shirts, I forgot what that was like! It has also however made me realise how little I have for the Summer months coming up so my best friend and I have arranged a little shopping trip to hopefully sort that out.

1. Finding new areas of Edinburgh that I haven't yet explored. We didn't have much time to have a proper look around but will be back really soon to try out some of the artisan coffee shops and do a little more exploring. Maybe even a little shopping?

2. Our apple tree is blossoming! I can't begin to explain the excitement I have this this happening. When I was very young we had a cherry tree in the garden and each spring I couldn't wait for the tiny pink flowers to start appearing. While it's not exactly the same I'm still very excited as these trees are our own :)

3. While chatting about the unseasonably warm weather this week, as you do, seeing as weather is the  main go to topic of conversation I was told two things. 1 -that the temperature here was hotter than in Greece at the time (which I find totally crazy) and 2 - that it's been double the temperature we would normally have for this time of year. What ever is going on it's putting a smile on my face, who doesn't love a little bit of blue sky and sunshine?

4. A cat that seems to think our garden is his garden, he's been making me laugh every sunny day we've had this week. At the bottom of our garden there's a large stone (just larger than a cat actually), the sun hits it first thing in the morning and like clockwork he arrives to lay against it every lunch time -I'm assuming its warm by then. He doesn't move once he's in his spot not matter what your doing in the garden and when you speak to him looks at you as if to say "can't you see I'm busy?".

5. Salted caramel popcorn! We discovered it while food shopping this week and it's become a favourite in this house already.

6. Saturday night pizza, and one of the best I've had in a long time! Made in a proper stone pizza oven it even had the tasty charred bits around the edges, we've already started talking about trips back for more.

7. New note pads, they come with so many possibilities!

8. Spending a quiet Monday wondering around the garden centre looking for pretty flowers for the garden, and enjoying some cake before we left.

Currently Loving: Skincare

My skins been relatively well behaved for the past couple of months (happy days!!), apart from the usual redness its been pretty good. I'm not putting this down to any one thing in particular as it's probably a little to do with the weather starting to warm up and the fact that we are eating much better than we were before the new year.

One thing I do think has helped however is going back to my old faithful cleanser -Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. Each and every time I'm drawn away from this product with big claims or shiny packaging I always feel the difference in my skin. I have had other cleansers that I liked and even some I've loved but for me, and my skin, this is best! It cleans my skin thoroughly without being harsh and leaving it feeling stripped, but at the same time it's very gentle on your skin, and if you have Rosacea as I do, you will be grateful for this. It's also the best product I've ever had for removing eye make-up, it removes every last bit without hurting your eyes.

I've been quite neglectful over the past few months with eye creams, when I ran out (I think August time -bad, I know?!) I just never got around to picking up a new one. I could blame the vast choice out there making the decision too hard but really I just kept forgetting. I picked up The Body Shops Vitamin E Eye Cream last week and so far I'm enjoying it, I've had the moisturiser before and loved it so I had I hopes for this. I can't claim to notice any major improvements in around 7 days but the skin around my eyes does feel softer and smoother than it did before. The cream is very light but very moisturising, it sinks in to your skin quickly and leaves no residue or tacky feeling behind so is a great one for using under make-up.

I've been making a conscious effort to try and moisturise the rest of my body daily, while I have to be honest and admit that just doesn't happen, I have been doing it every other day so not too bad. When we were in the middle of Winter and it was bitterly cold outside I was using body butters but as it's been warming up lately I've moved on to lighter but just as moisturising products. The one I've been using over and over again (which makes me sad as it's nearly all gone), is Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede Body Cream. The Jo Malone creams are simply fantastic! For a start they smell amazing, and the take no time at all to sink in to your skin leaving it beautifully soft. As an added bonus they also feel very luxurious to use and look stunning sat on any dresser :)

Made Me Happy This Week

I read last week that the 5 day Easter weekend is the most popular time for any DIY or gardening to be done, we have definitely been making the most of our long weekend but not in the same way, not even close! Instead we've chosen to sleep late, make no plans and just see where the days go and it's been a lovely 4 days so far. Lots of relaxed morning and slow starts that you really appriciate when things have been busy lately. Today, we woke up and may have had a naughty breakfast of Easter eggs but then what are you really "eggspected" (I'm so sorry, I couldn't help it) to do on Easter Sunday? The rest of the day has been very relaxed and I made a pie for dinner with an Easter twist (you can see it here on Instagram if you'd like), the rest of the evening will more than likely be filled with more chocolate and a cup of tea...and maybe even a film or two :)

1. The weather today has been so perfect, so warm and sunny and not a cloud in the sky. We've at no point had to turn on the heating and we even sat in our extension with the door wide open letting in the warm air...Summer is definitely on the way!

2. Easter cupcakes, chocolate eggs, and a very tasty Easter dinner, well you have to make the most of the weekend don't you?

3. The sunny yellow daffodils that have slowly started popping up in the garden, they really brighten everything up, I'll be sad when they go.

4. The cupcakes I made this week (pictured above) have made me smile each time I've looked at them. They are my absolute favourite to make, I love the bunnies bottoms sticking up in the air.

5. Plugging my SD card into my laptop and it registering first time. My laptop seems to be giving up lately -I'm worried it's on it's last legs, its just giving me problem after problem so that was a plesant surprise when something actually worked.

6. My new BodyShop eyecream, it was a last minute purchase after realising I'd ran out but I'm loving it so far.

7. Getting freebies in Jo Malone. It's always nice when you get something for nothing but even better when they are miniature an in Jo Malone's beautiful packaging.

8. A home made Starbucks latte made specially for me by Paul, in my favourite cup and everything!

Happy Easter!
