Gwen Stefani x Urban Decay

When this palette started to pop up online I knew I had to get my hands on one. I was up (embarrassingly) early on the day of it's release and managed to place my order before they sold out on the Urban Decay website, thankfully they're back in stock most places now so you should be able to pick one up pretty easily if you are still looking -but hurry, they are limited edition! Feel Unique have some at the moment.

Like most people, before seeing it, when hearing there was going to be an Urban Decay and Gwen Stefani collaboration I was excited, but assumed it'd be a palette that I'd never wear. I expected bright colours, none of which you could use that often and for it to be one of those things you buy because you love, not because it's a sensible purchase. It seems that we were all wrong, but when you think of Gwen's make-up, she very often has a simple neutral eye and pairs it with a bold lip so this palette makes perfect sense and is made up of shades she's always felt were missing from her own collection.

Like all Urban Decay shadows, these are amazing quality. They all give you wonderful pigmentation, they all blend easily and you don't get too much fall out when you apply. All accept one, "pop", don't get me wrong -it's stunning and looks beautiful on the eye but it does have a lot of fall out due to it being so heavy with glitter. I've been told however that applying it wet or with a little fix plus spray from Mac will stop this, it'll also give you full on sparkly eyelids -perfect for Christmas time!

The selection of colours are beautiful and since getting it (after waiting to take pictures, of course) I've used it every day and kind of neglected my other palettes. The selection of neutral shades work so well together, there's a good selection of matte and shimmer shades, giving you plenty of options to work with. And with the options you have in this palette you can go from "no make-up" make-up to full on, heavy evening looks. One colour I loved from the moment I seen it swatched online was "punk", I was worried it'd be too red for me to wear but it's actually very flattering on and is lovely as a smokey liner or for under the eye. The only colour I haven't yet tried is "harajuku", the blue toned pink. I'm not a huge fan of pink so I knew it was never going to be my favourite, but seeing as I love 14 out of 15 of the shadows I'm ok with that.

I also want to add how wonderful the packaging is -if I could have designed some for myself this is how it would have been! It's perfect for travel as it's very sturdy, but not so bulky that I find it annoying to carry. I love the gold with the polka dot design and the satisfying magnetic close really pleases me...well done Gwen, and well done Urban Decay!

    1. It does, but I think that's a good thing. I don't think it would have been one I'd have bought otherwise :) xx
