A December To-Do List

christmas-to-do-list's the most wonderful time of the year.

And it really is! Something magical has happened today, we've had our decorations up for about a week now -I just couldn't wait this year, but today, there's that festive Christmas feeling in the air. Suddenly all the decorations, the twinkly lights, the advent calendars and the frosted gardens seem so much more exciting. I want to make sure that this year, we enjoy as much of the excitement and the build up, as we do the day it's self. We have so many things we want to do over the next few weeks, and these are just a few of them...

Watch as many Christmas films as possible. I can't wait to spend as many nights -and days, watching as many Christmas films as I possibly can. Some of the best days in December are spent pottering around the house, with a big mug of tea in hand and a Christmas film on in the background.

Listen to as much Christmas music as I can. I have to be honest and tell you all that I've been playing it for months already. But now it's more appropriate so I wont get those funny looks.

Make a gingerbread house. We have made plenty of gingerbread men over the years, but we've never attempted a house, but 2016 is the year! And when it's dry and perfectly decorated (and many pictures have been taken) we will smash it up and have it with tea. I know they can last for weeks as decoration, but that seems like a waste of good gingerbread to me.

Go on a few more shopping trips. I am one of those odd people who enjoy the madness, the chaos that descends on the shops at Christmas time. I love the buzz of it all, it adds to the excitement of the season. Trying to find a parking space, trying to grab the last seat in a cafe it's all just part of the fun. We've very nearly finished our gift shopping, but I'm sure we'll make a few more trips out, even if it's just to make the most of the festive drinks before they're gone.

Do lots of Christmas baking. I mean, there's already a lot of baking done in this house -it's even in the name of this blog. But at Christmas time there's just nothing better than the smell of cinnamon, vanilla and spices filling the house.
