A Frozen Morning

One of my favourite things about this time of year, is waking up to a blanket of frost covering everything in sight. Even the most simple of things start to sparkle in the moring sun, almost as if they've been covered in glitter. I love these cold crisp mornings, when you can see your breath in front of you as you walk, and you're fingers freeze if you take them out from your coat pockets -especially if you forget you gloves...as I always do.

We've been waking up earlier and earlier these past couple of weeks, before the suns up, while it's still dark outside. We've been making the most of it by having big mugs of tea in bed and watching as the world outside starts to wake up too, it's such a lovely way to start the morning. The other day we decided to make the most of a quiet frosty morning and headed out, thoroughly wrapped up for a walk in the early sunshine. There's something much quieter and more peaceful than the early morings in summer time. As out walk, all you hear are the frozen leaves crunch beneath your feet and the sound of birds in the trees.

We seemed to catch the attention of quite a few squirrels too, who normally don't come quite as close as these little guys did. I'm pretty sure they thought we had treats for them, as when they realised we weren't offering them anything they lost interest.

We didn't stay out too long, as pretty as it is, it's still cold, so with red noses and a puppy with cold feet we headed home for breakfast. Are you a fan of the frozen mornings, or are you looking forward to when things start to warm up again?
